Sophie Gough makes sculptural work that is influenced by an interest in material research and spatial exploration, often with an environmental consideration towards our built environment. She finds herself in a constant search to look beyond the mere surface of things, frequently seeking to disrupt the relationships we have with familiar entities.
Drawing is a medium within Sophie’s practice that facilitates her to explore three dimensional spaces on a two dimensional surface, keeping the simple implementation of a line to a minimum. It is a new realm in her work which began in New York as a means to continue making without a studio space.
She hopes that the sale of these documents which objectify her spatial studies will help to continue the financing of her art practice
